Multimedia web channel TodoLoQueHay (All There Is) [es] from Colombia recently posted a short visual journey in the Emberá-Chamí indigenous reserve previously known as Christendom, whose inhabitants are now trying to make known by its ancestral name instead: Karmata Rua.

Beautiful video from the art collective Invisible Society in Bogotá.  Bringing together 53 artists who set up art installations or performance, the video itself is a comment on collective process and result.

In many cases, without being able to gain legal employment, the women and their daughters find themselves turning to sex-work to make a living.

The ‘Born on December 31st’ documentary by Priscila Padilla exposes a human rights violation the Wayuu indigenous group of Colombia have been under.

Many of their national IDs, mass produced to get important votes in election periods, state they were all born on the same date and feature offensive made-up names; which they were unable to notice because Spanish is not their native language.

You can still experience it even if you aren’t in Colombia by requesting to Copy the Festival, and getting a full package to replicate the festival, including films, talks and contact information for directors and panelists.


Last week, Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos toured Japan and South  Korean for seven days with the goal of strengthening commercial ties.   In Japan, he signed an agreement to protect reciprocal investments,  while the Koreans promised to accelerate the process for a free trade  treaty.
